Apple 5th Gen iPod Touch gets Major Update

I've always love iPod Touch and it has always been my main Media Player, I used it from listening to Audiobooks, Podcast, Music and even watch movies and play those cool and silly games. And I got excited when Apple released the 5th Gen iPod touch with a lot of feature update.

So whats new with the 5th Generation of this iPod Touch. Let me tell you what they are.

4-inch Retina display - 4-inch (diagonal) widescreen display with Multi-Touch IPS technology, It's the same screen size as the iPhone 5.
  • Retina display
  • 1136-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch
  • 800:1 contrast ratio (typical)
  • 500 cd/m2 max brightness (typical)
  • Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating

New Design and Body - iPod touch is made from the same kind of anodized aluminum used in the MacBook line. and it's made By machining the enclosure from a single piece of aluminum. And It comes in variety of colors to choose from.

Dual-core A5 chip - This is what will the processing power capability the iPod touch will have, it will be same as the iPhone 4s. The dual-core A5 chip provides up to twice the processing power and up to seven times faster graphics than the previous generation.

Connectivity - 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, Maps: Location-based service and Nike+ support built in
Most of the smartphones and media players supports only 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 3.0, now this advance connectivity is really a plus for this device.

The Loop - This is one of the features that I was looking for my media player, the ability to put some landyard to be able to wear it while on the go. The included Loop also matches the color of the iPod.

5 megapixels iSight camera - from a lousy camera of 4th Gen. to a great camera. The Panorama feature is only of the great things you can do now that this iPod touch is capable of.
  • 5-megapixel iSight camera
  • Autofocus
  • Tap to focus video or still images
  • Backside illumination
  • Hybrid IR filter
  • Five-element lens
  • LED flash
  • ƒ/2.4 aperture
  • Face detection
  • Panorama
  • HDR
  • HD video recording (1080p) up to 30 frames per second with audio
  • FaceTime HD camera with 1.2MP photos and HD video (720p) up to 30 frames per second
  • Video stabilization
  • Tap to control exposure for video or stills
  • Photo and video geotagging over Wi-Fi
EarPods - Apple EarPods is based on the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphones.

Lightning Connector - The new connector is called Lightning. It’s smaller and smarter, sure its smaller but I don't see why it is smarter. According to apple this will be the new standard connector of their all future iOS devices.

So if you have a lot of those 30pin accessories like me, well you will need the 30 pin adapter which cost $29 and $39 for the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m)

Siri - finally Siri is now available on iPod Touch, now Siri will wake you up, open your apps, give you movie and restaurant picks, answer your most random questions, and remind you to do stuff. In a nice way. All you have to do is ask.

And oh, more thing! This 5th Gen. iPod Touch will run on iOS 6

The 5th Gen Ipod Touch is now available is 32GB and 64GB capacity, price starts $299. You can now buy it at apple store. If you ask me with all this features and upgrades I am definitely getting one for myself.
