Windows Phone 8 Developer Day

With the recent launch of the newest Windows Phone 8 by Microsoft, The development tools are also out and for the first time, together with Microsoft Philippines and Nokia PhilippinesGlobe Labs is inviting all developers to the first ever Windows Phone 8 Developer Day.


Celebrate this day with us and our guest speaker Mr. Matthias Shapiro, Microsoft Windows Phone Evangelist, will give a discussion and walkthrough of the following topics:

Here's what to expect on this Day: 

* Windows Phone 8 Overview
* Foundational Practices, application lifecycle, data storage, MVVM, Background Workers
* Notifications and extensions to the platform
* Tiles, Push Notifications
* Sensors and new sensor-related APIs
* Getting your App ready for Windows Phone Store
* Preparing for Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 code sharing and porting

Start building your WP8 apps, register for the "Windows Phone 8 Developer Day" by visiting the via the Globe Labs portal - Windows Phone 8 Developer Day. Note that registration will require you to login to the Globe Labs site. 

The event is free from any registration fee, however limited number of participants can be accommodated.
Since this is a developer event, make sure you are prepared before going; here's the tools you need for this event.

The workshop will include hands-on training, thus we ask our participants to bring their machines (laptops, portable PCs) to be able to try out building applications in WP8.

Supported operating systems:
-- Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro
-- Windows 8 64-bit (x64) client versions

Hardware:
-- 4 GB of free hard disk space
-- 4 GB RAM
-- 64-bit (x64) CPU

Windows Phone 8 Emulator:

-- Windows 8 Pro edition or greater
-- Requires a processor that supports Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)
If in case your computer meets the hardware and operating system requirements, but does meet the requirements for the Windows Phone 8 Emulator, the Windows Phone SDK 8.0 will install and run. However, the Windows Phone 8 Emulator will not function and you will not be able to deploy or test apps on the Windows Phone 8 Emulator.

  1. Developers that are familiar with the Windows Runtime will find the Windows Phone Runtime easy to learn. The frameworks are very similar.
