Gadget ON: First hand experience with Torque Droidz Blast- Dual-Core Affordable SmartPhone

Torque recently announce their Dual-Core Smartphone's that will be available in the market this coming new year. The Drioz Blast got my attention because of its similarity to Samsung Galaxy S3.

The Drioz Blast have a huge 4.7-inch display @ 960×540 pixels, with 512MB of RAM and will run in Android 4.1 Jellybean. But that's not what's cool with this smartphone, this one support  Dual-SIM, dual-standby and a TV Tuner and FM Radio tuner now that's one pack features if you ask me...

DROIDZ Blast Tech specs:
4.7-inch display @ 960×540 pixels
Mediatek MT6577 1GHz dual-core processor
4GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD
Dual-SIM, dual-standby, quad-band
HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76 Mbps / 3.5G HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100MHZ
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n  / Bluetooth 2.0
GPS with aGPS support
FM Radio tuner
TV Tuner
8MP rear camera with LED flash
VGA front-facing camera
Android 4.1 Jellybean

At first look you will definitely will see the resemblance with Samsung Galaxy S3, but if you will compare it side by side the Droidz Blast have a smaller screen size.

With it's huge screen size, it's very easy to create and read your SMS messages, and the Dual-SIM capability is really a big plus since you can easy choose which SIM you want to use.

I wasn't able to see what's the battery capacity since it's using a generic one, removing the battery you can see where to put your SIM and memory card which it supports up to 32GB microSD.

The huge 4.7 screen it's an advantage in watching movies and even TV shows, yes folks this one have a TV tuner so won't miss your fave TV shows because you can now watch it wherever you are and  whenever you want to.

The antenna is located at the back and you might think it's a stylus, searching local channel is so easy just pull the antenna all the way up and choose your location and it will search all the local channel available on that area.

Note: Torque Droidz Blast I tested is not the final product yet so there might still be some changes when this smartphone hits the marketplace.

For the pricing, it's not yet available but according to Torque they will offer this less than 10K, so If I’m to guess it’s price it will be probably be around P7k to 8k.

  1. It's good that Torque is introducing a cheaper alternative in the smartphone business.

  2. I'm not familiar with the Torque brand. Any idea who is usually the market for this phone?

    1. Oh just following up with my question: Is there an expected release date for this and will there be a launching event. I am interested to check it out.

  3. With this Price point and a dual core phone. Its a steal..

  4. When more quality options are given, consumers benefit especially in terms of pricing and features.

  5. I will think again if I will consider Torque over Samsung if I buy a new phone this coming January. Coz' you showed me their resemblance.

  6. A good value for money already :) Quite impressive for Torque to come up with this kind of smartphone.

  7. Honestly, I think it's too obvious that it's a copy and if Samsung was anything like Apple, I smell a lawsuit coming Torque's way. There's so much space for innovation in mobile and smartphones, I don't see why Torque needs to do this.

  8. i prefer to buy torque rather than CM. i do have a torque unit and still working. its been two years and a half since i purchased the unit. everyone of us want to have a decent and a good quality android phones but come to think of it the price of apple and samsung compare to the pinoy made android phones. not all of us can afford to buy a smartphones. thanks for all to the people behind those pinoy smartphones.. and please.. support pinoy smartphones.

  9. According to their Torque Mobile Kiosk at SM-North EDSA, Torque Droidz phones will only be available this March 2013...can anybody confirm?

  10. Ahm.
    I have a question?.
Are that torque droidz blast have a proximity sensor, light sensor, and gravity sensor?.
Because i didnt see on your spec's,tahat they have that sensor.
